In this article I’ll discuss how celebrity narcissists hide their narcissism in plain sight. Many of these narcissists go their whole life undetected. Despite their prominent positions and narcissistic behaviours.
High profile narcissists may be entertainers, politicians, or business leaders for example. And they seem to get away with treating many people poorly over long periods of time. And escape with little damage to their reputations.
How can someone in the public eye fool so many people for so long? Here’s my thoughts on how celebrity narcissists hide in plain sight…

Adopt Eccentric Personas
Many high profile narcissists adopt eccentric personalities. And this provides a valuable smokescreen for their behaviours.
“Eccentric people” are more able to get away with rude and domineering behaviour. Because people are confused by their unorthodox ways. As the narcissist blurs the line between being narcissistic and playful.
Their eccentric persona allows them to throw in a few jokes, and some morsels of niceness. And people latch on to them as proof they’re a good person. And dismiss their narcissistic behaviours as part of their eccentricities. They just don’t see how badly they treat people.
Fear
Many people are intimidated by celebrities. Because they’re deemed important, powerful, and high ranking. So they’re more likely to turn a blind eye to their misdemeanour’s.
Any celebrity narcissist worth their salt will exploit this power imbalance. And use subtle threats to silence dissenters. This menacing threat hangs in the air, so that if someone complains about them, no one dares listen.
Even the Police have been known to be intimidated by the rich and powerful. Because on an individual basis, the celebrity is more powerful than them.
People are also more forgiving of high profile narcissistic personalities. There’s still a certain sexiness associated with celebrity. And people want to be around them. So many people are willing to put up with more than they would from a regular Joe.
Powerful And Influential Friends
We tend to hang around people who have a similar social status to ourselves. So it’s no stretch to assume that most high profile people have powerful and influential friends. And this naturally increases the fear factor when dealing with them.
If you watch the news, it’s clear that these fears have merit. Celebrities utilise their friends in high places to help them get what they want. Meaning this person is not only more powerful than most, but they also have the backing of powerful friends.
Best Lawyers
And if this advantage isn’t enough, celebrity narcissists can usually afford the best lawyers, public relations, and other hired help.
Top lawyers can do more than help their clients in court. They can prevent legal cases ever reaching there.
Top lawyers know how to bully and intimidate weaker opponents into dropping cases. Often by threatening their own legal action with counterclaims.
Failing this, they can bargain for their silence with out of court settlements with gagging orders. Stopping reports of their narcissistic behaviours ever hitting the news. Does this sound familiar?
Public Relations
Many celebrities have access to the best PR teams. And public relations experts know how to present the celebrity narcissist in the best light. They can provide them with speeches and directions as to what to say. And flattering photo opportunities.
Their celebrity status attracts interest from the media. Who are willing to show the celebrity in whatever light they want, as long as they get the scoop.
If they want to appear like a wholesome family man, then this is easily achieved with film footage, photos, and interviews. Which is distributed to thousands of fans. And the celebrity narcissist only needs to stay in character for a few hours.
A dedicated fan base often backs their hero through thick and thin. And may be hostile towards their critics. Further discouraging people from daring to reveal what the narcissist is really like.
Selective Narcissism
An often forgotten trait of most narcissists is they can turn their narcissism off and on. And play the nice act when it’s in their best interests. And unleash their narcissistic side when they’ve less to lose. That’s why many narcissists display most of their narcissistic traits within the confines of their own home.
Most high profile narcissists play the nice act when the cameras are rolling. Helping to create a reputation of a warm and kind-hearted individual.
And they’re usually nice around other high ranking people, because they’re useful to have on side. And many of these high profile people will sing their praises, and have their backs if their narcissism is ever revealed.
Associate With “Good Causes”
Some high profile narcissists hide in plain sight by promoting good causes. And may raise fortunes for charities.
People naturally assume they must be kind empathetic people if they help good causes. And don’t realise it’s a PR exercise that bolsters their reputations. And this can take a darker twist…
If charities are dependant on a celebrity narcissist, then they don’t want anything bad to happen to them. Because their income would dry up. So these charities have an incentive to help them, should they ever get themselves into trouble.
Grandiosity And Entitlement
Grandiosity and entitlement are two big indicators of narcissism. But if the narcissist is a high achiever, then their grandiosity may not stand out. Because they can back it up – at least to some degree.
People often interpret their grandiosity as confidence, and may even applaud it. Swaggering around in sports cars and designer clothes is seen as part of the job in some industries. So their grandiosity often goes unnoticed.
When it comes to a sense of entitlement, the public often expects this from celebrities. They understand that they have wealth, and are given preferential treatment wherever they go. So it stands to reason that the celebrity expects more than most.
The public often sings the praises of celebrities for being friendly and “down to earth”. When all they did was say hello. Or they didn’t complain when their restaurant table was 5 minutes late.
With such low expectations, celebrity narcissists can get away with high levels of entitlement. And people don’t bat an eyelid.
Final Thoughts
Most narcissists present a kind and empathetic front, whilst being narcissistic to those weaker them. And celebrity narcissists are no exception.
Celebrity narcissists have more wealth and power than your average narcissist. And they have the backing of the media, fans, and paid experts to help manage their reputations.
Narcissists appear most walks of life. And the world of celebrity is certainly no exception.
In recent times it seems that people are slowly waking up. And realising that their favourite celebrities may not be what they seem.
As the saying goes, “absolute power corrupts absolutely”. And when you’re dealing with a narcissist, this is especially true.

Meghan . Truly shocking , manipulative human being . It beggared belief how much disrespect they showed the Royal family at that time . Never mind them saying the head of said family did nothing wrong ever – she still insulted them by doing so . And to top it off the name that was given to their daughter . Private special name only 2 ppl used for her . His brothers wife is someone to respect , look up to and is very regal herself . Sets a perfect example of how a royal should be
Yes, I thought the Lillibet thing was a provocation. Then she could use their reaction as proof of the Royal Family’s “discrimination”. It’s good that they didn’t react.
