In the early stages of a relationship, narcissists love bomb. They act like your ideal partner. And shower you with compliments and kind deeds. And sex is often a part of it.

The narcissist may want to do it several times a day. Because they know it draws you in to fall for them. But once they’ve accomplished their mission, their sexual appetite may dramatically drop off.

From wanting to do it anywhere and everywhere, they’re no longer so interested. Because they’ve achieved their goals.

Whilst it’s true that most relationships don’t sustain the early passion, the difference is night and day with many narcissist relationships. And they can swing from hyper-sexual to twice yearly… nearly. Depending on what their goals are at the time.

Narcissists Sexual Fetishes

As part of their love bombing, narcissists mirror their partners. And pretend to like everything they like. Which includes sexual preferences and fetishes.

But as you might expect, this doesn’t continue once the honeymoon period is over. So the kinky things they once “enjoyed”, no longer float their boat. And to the eyes of their partner, they seem to suddenly and dramatically change.

To add to the confusion, the narcissist may introduce new fetishes to the relationship. Ones they didn’t dare broach in the early stages of the relationship. Because now they don’t care what their partner thinks. So they may even use unreasonable pressure to get what they want.

Some narcissists get off from making their partners do things they don’t want to do. Because this makes them feel powerful.

So they may keep introducing new and stranger fetishes to the relationship. Not because they’re particularly interested in them, but to exert control.

For these reasons, narcissists may display completely different sexual fetishes over time. Depending on the stage they’re at in the relationship, and what they want to achieve.

Power And Control

Narcissists often weaponise sex to help them achieve power and control over their partners. And may use it for punishment and reward, to gain compliance. So they may give it or take it away, depending on how you behave.

Narcissists may also withhold sex during devaluation periods. Just to make you feel less worthy.

If they’re having an affair, then they may feel even more empowered. Because now they don’t need you. So they can go long periods of time denying you sex. Because their needs are being met elsewhere.

Narcissists often expect their partners to provide them with sex whenever they want it. But won’t return the favour if the roles are reversed.

Just like in all other areas of their life, narcissist are selfish when it comes to sex. And may want it more when you don’t want it, and vice versa. Just to be awkward.

Narcissistic Supply

Narcissists need narcissistic supply to prop up their false self. Which includes attention and adoration. And many narcissists look to sex to provide this.

In the narcissists mind, sex is a one way thing. It’s not a show of mutual love and affection. It’s you worshipping them.

Whilst most narcissists enjoy sex, they enjoy being worshipped more. So they may swing from one extreme to the other. They may be incredibly selfish, expecting you to serve them. Or they may make a huge effort, to show how great they are.

Once you’ve been with a narcissist for a while, they gain less narcissistic supply from having sex with you. Because in their mind you’re already conquered. Which is why they start looking elsewhere for their fix. And even if they don’t have an affair, they’re likely to at least flirt to gain supply.

Narcissists often have affairs for narcissistic supply, rather than for the sex itself. And may enjoy crushing their affair with false hopes that they’ll soon be together. For the narcissist, sex is just one tool of many to achieve this.

Narcissists Sexual Preferences

Narcissists often don’t have a type. If someone makes them feel good about themselves and gives them supply, then this may be enough. So they may have many completely different types of partners throughout their life.

Whilst narcissists like to be seen with attractive people, they often target people less attractive. Because they think they can dominate them.

This is why narcissists sometimes have affairs with people less attractive than their partner. Because they think they’ll be worshipped more. So even though a narcissist may have an eye for beauty, don’t be surprised if they’re having an affair with their unattractive “friend”.

Narcissists And Bisexuality

If a narcissist is low in supply, then they might swing to a same sex liaison. Even if they’re not homosexual or bisexual. Because they need attention and validation that badly.

A narcissist might also switch sexual orientation if they sense that someone of the same sex will give them copious amounts of supply. If someone of the same sex is obsessed with the narcissist, then this might get their attention.

Remember, narcissists want to be adored. So if this offered by someone of the same sex, then many narcissists can’t resist.

Some narcissists are secretly homosexual. But deny this part of themselves, because they see it as a flaw. And narcissists want to be perfect. Which leads to some homosexual narcissists to marry someone of the opposite sex, just to keep up appearances.

Homosexual narcissists sometimes become super homophobic to cover their tracks. And may project the self loathing of their own homosexuality onto others.

Some narcissists resent members of the opposite sex. Because they know they need them. And narcissists don’t want to be subservient to anyone. So they may experiment with homosexuality to take back the control they feel they hand away to the opposite sex.

Most narcissists have a low boredom threshold. And need a fix of drama and excitement. This leads some to experiment with homosexuality. Because it’s something different. And there’s the danger of getting “caught” and exposed. Which adds to the buzz.

If the narcissist gains confidence, or wants to shock others for attention, then they might openly switch sexual orientation later in life. Because they tend to care less about what others think, the older they get.

Final Thoughts

Narcissists have no core identity. It’s fluid, depending on what’s advantageous at the time. And the same is true with their sexuality.

Most narcissists are skilled at presenting a fairly consistent outward appearance. Which makes it more shocking when their sexuality or personality shifts so dramatically. particularly if they’ve been homophobic in the past.

Narcissists are walking talking contradictions. And there’s many reasons why their sexual preferences and orientations shift. But ultimately it boils down to what’s advantageous at the time, and their need for supply.

Narcissists live so much through their false façade that it’s impossible to know their true core values, preferences, and beliefs. And the truth is, they don’t know what they are either.
