I learned the hard way to stop making plans after booking an anniversary trip to Aruba. The week before we were due to leave he decided he cancelled without absolutely zero concern about how I felt ( devastated) and even said I should still go ( I did). I realized that this was a repetitive cycle as he had cancelled on smaller but meaningful events without any feeling of concern for how it affected me.
